AD/TSA-600/15 - Outboard Aileron Hinge Bolt Installation - Inspection and Modification - CANCELLED

What this is: This document officially cancels a previous aviation safety rule (Airworthiness Directive AD/TSA-600/15) that required owners of specific Aerostar aircraft to inspect and modify a bolt on the wing.

Who it affects: Owners and operators of Aerostar (Piper/Ted Smith) 600 and 700 series aeroplanes.

What it does: It removes the legal requirement to inspect and modify the outboard aileron hinge bolt installation. Previously, owners had to perform this work within 100 flight hours after June 1978 following the manufacturer's Service Bulletin No. 600-73. As of 4 June 2009, this requirement no longer applies.

Why it matters: While the original rule was important for flight safety (ensuring the ailerons — the wing flaps that control rolling — stayed securely attached), this cancellation means the Civil Aviation Safety Authority has determined the inspection is no longer necessary for airworthiness.
