AD/TSA-600/10 - Pilot and Passenger Seat Cushion Diaphragm - Inspection and Modification - CANCELLED

What this does: This document officially cancels a previous aviation safety rule (called an Airworthiness Directive) that applied to Aerostar 600 and 700 series aircraft.

What the old rule required: The previous directive required aircraft owners to inspect and modify the seat cushion diaphragms (the material supporting the seat cushions) according to a specific manufacturer service bulletin (Ted Smith Corporation SB No. 600-66) within 100 hours of flight time after November 1977.

Who it affects: Owners and operators of Aerostar (Piper/Ted Smith) 600 and 700 series aeroplanes.

Why it matters: As of 4 June 2009, owners of these aircraft no longer need to perform this specific inspection or modification. The Civil Aviation Safety Authority has determined this safety requirement is no longer necessary, removing a compliance burden from aircraft operators.
