Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

This directive requires owners and operators of specific Aerostar 600 and 700 series aircraft (those with serial numbers before 0436) to inspect and modify the diaphragms inside pilot and passenger seat cushions.

What must be done:

Part 1: Complete within 25 flight hours after 10 November 1977
Parts 2 and 3: Complete within 100 flight hours after 10 November 1977

The technical bit: The work must follow instructions in Ted Smith Corporation Service Bulletin SB600-66. The diaphragm is the structural base of the seat cushion, and this ensures it won't fail during flight or block emergency exit.

Who is affected: Anyone operating these specific Aerostar aircraft under Australian aviation safety regulations must ensure compliance or ground the aircraft.
