Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This Airworthiness Directive (AD) cancels a previous safety rule for specific aircraft engines.

Who it affects Owners and operators of aircraft powered by AlliedSignal (Garrett/AiResearch) TPE 331 series turbine engines (common in turboprop aircraft like King Airs and Conquests).

What it does This document officially cancels the previous directive AD/TPE 331/51 as of 24 September 2009. The original rule required replacement of fuel manifold assemblies—components that deliver fuel to the engine—according to specific manufacturer service bulletins (Alert SB No. A73-7023 or A73-0242) before July 1996.

Why it matters Operators of these engines are no longer legally required to perform this specific maintenance. The Civil Aviation Safety Authority has determined the replacement requirement is no longer necessary for flight safety, removing a compliance burden for aircraft owners.
