AD/TPE 331/5 - Fuel Nozzle and Manifold Assembly - Replacement - CANCELLED

This document permanently cancels a 42-year-old aircraft safety rule that required specific engine repairs.

What it does:

• Officially scraps Airworthiness Directive AD/TPE 331/5 effective 24 September 2009
• Removes a mandatory maintenance requirement for owners of aircraft fitted with AlliedSignal (Garrett/AiResearch) TPE 331 series turbine engines (commonly found in older turboprops)

The old rule required:

• Replacement of fuel nozzles and manifold assemblies according to a 1967 manufacturer service bulletin (Airesearch SB No. 9)
• Compliance "forthwith" (immediately) when originally issued

Why it matters: Aircraft operators and maintenance engineers no longer need to perform this specific fuel system replacement or keep records proving compliance. This reduces maintenance costs and administrative burden for operators of legacy aircraft, provided they have already met the original 1967 requirement or the components have been upgraded through other means.
