AD/TPE 331/32 - Rear Turbine Bearing Oil Supply Tube Inspection/Replacement - CANCELLED

This document cancels a previous mandatory safety instruction (called an Airworthiness Directive or AD) issued by the aviation regulator.

What it used to require: Owners of AlliedSignal (Garrett) TPE 331 turbine engines previously had to inspect or replace the rear turbine bearing oil supply tube every 400 hours of flight time, following specific manufacturer service bulletins, unless the engine was modified.

What it does now: The Civil Aviation Safety Authority has cancelled this requirement effective 24 September 2009. The repetitive inspection is no longer considered necessary for safety.

Who this affects: Aircraft owners, operators, and maintenance engineers working with planes powered by AlliedSignal (Garrett/AiResearch) TPE 331 series turbine engines.
