Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

This is an Airworthiness Directive — a mandatory safety order issued by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority. It requires inspection of a specific engine component (the Inlet Guide Vane Feedback Tube Assembly) on certain Lycoming T53 turbine engines commonly used in helicopters.

Who it affects:

Operators of helicopters with T5313A, T5313B, T53-L-13A, or T53-L-13B engines
Only applies to engines with serial numbers below LEO7590 (for T5313 models) or LE23885 (for T53-L-13 models)

What must be done: Operators must inspect the feedback tube assembly following the technical instructions in either:

Lycoming Field Service Bulletin No. 0029, or
Airworthiness Directive AD/LYC-T/11

Why it matters: This prevents potential engine failures or power loss caused by defects in the inlet guide vane system, which controls airflow into the engine compressor.
