AD/SWSA226/93 - Rudder Gust Lock - CANCELLED

This document cancels a previous aviation safety rule (called an Airworthiness Directive) that applied to Fairchild Swearingen SA226 and SA227 aircraft (Metroliner series).

What it does:

• Removes a mandatory life limit previously imposed on rudder gust lock assemblies (parts that prevent the rudder from moving in high winds when the aircraft is on the ground).
• Stops requiring operators to comply with the specific safety instruction known as AD/SWSA226/93.

Why the change: The original rule was introduced after incidents where the rudder gust lock accidentally engaged during flight. It required these components to be replaced after a set number of flight hours or cycles.

This cancellation takes effect because the manufacturer now includes these same life limits in the standard Aircraft Maintenance Manual, which operators are already legally required to follow. The separate directive is therefore redundant.
