Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

What this is: This is an Airworthiness Directive (AD) — a mandatory safety order issued by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) requiring owners of specific aircraft to carry out a modification.

Who it affects: Owners and operators of Fairchild Swearingen SA226T aircraft with serial numbers T201 through T217.

What it requires: You must modify the wing centre section to improve venting (air circulation). The technical details are found in Swearingen Service Bulletin 57-30-3021.

When it had to be done: Within 100 hours of flight time or 3 months after 31 July 1972 — whichever came first.

Why it matters: This modification addresses a safety issue in the wing structure. Compliance is legally mandatory — flying without completing this modification would breach aviation safety laws.
