Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

This directive requires owners/operators of specified Fairchild (Swearingen) SA227 variants to immediately install a cockpit placard reading “Flight into known icing conditions prohibited” (1/4" lettering, pilot‑visible), unless the aircraft has been modified per two named service bulletins. It’s a low‑cost, operational prohibition prompted by inadequate propeller de‑icing experience and an FAA withdrawal of icing approval.
