AD/SWSA226/35 - Aileron Static Rebalance - Incorporation - CANCELLED

This document cancels an old aircraft safety rule (called an Airworthiness Directive or AD) that previously forced owners of certain Fairchild Swearingen planes (models SA226 and SA227) to rebalance their ailerons—the movable parts on the wings that control rolling.

What it used to require: Originally issued in 1984, the rule mandated a fix for a balance issue in the ailerons, based on a manufacturer service bulletin. Owners had to complete the work within 50 flight hours after October 1981.

Why it's being scrapped: Because the compliance deadline passed nearly three decades ago, every affected aircraft would have already completed the rebalancing. The rule is now redundant paperwork, so the Civil Aviation Safety Authority has cancelled it effective 4 June 2009.

What this means: No aircraft owner needs to comply with this directive anymore. It has been removed from the books to reduce administrative clutter.
