Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This is a mandatory Airworthiness Directive (a legal safety order) issued by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority.

Who it affects: Owners and operators of specific Fairchild Swearingen SA226 aircraft with serial numbers T(B) 394, 397, 400, 403, 405, 407, 414 and TCV 401, 413, 415, 418.

What you must do: Rebalance the ailerons (the movable surfaces on the wings that control rolling) according to the manufacturer's Service Bulletin No. 27-030.

When: Within 50 hours of "time in service" (actual flying time) after 31 October 1981.

Why it matters: The manufacturer advised that if the ailerons aren't rebalanced, it could affect the safety of flight — meaning the aircraft might not handle properly or could become uncontrollable.
