Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

This airworthiness directive requires operators of specified Fairchild (Swearingen) SA‑226/SA‑227 aircraft (listed by serial number) to fit striker plates and covers over the inside nose‑baggage‑door latches, following Swearingen Service Bulletin SB 52‑007 (rev. 29 May 1979). The modification mechanically prevents latch disengagement caused by shifting baggage. Compliance was required within 100 hours time‑in‑service after 28 July 1979, so affected owners/operators must instal the parts and record the change.
