Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

What it does: This directive requires owners or operators of specific Fairchild Swearingen aircraft to modify the aileron control system—the mechanical components that allow the pilot to control the aircraft's roll (banking left or right).

Who it affects: This applies only to three specific aircraft models with limited serial number ranges:

SA226TC (serial numbers TC-205 through TC-207)
SA226T (serial numbers T-228 through T-238)
SA226AT (serial numbers AT-009 through AT-012)

What must be done: The aircraft must be modified exactly as described in Swearingen Service Bulletin 27-10-3044 (a technical instruction manual from the manufacturer).

Deadline: The work must be completed within 100 flight hours after 31 December 1973.

Why it matters: This prevents potential mechanical failures in the control system that could cause the pilot to lose control of the aircraft during flight.
