Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

Owners/operators of Monnett Sonerai II, IIL, and IILT homebuilt aircraft must follow a safety directive addressing weakened wing spars: it imposes immediate cockpit placard warnings with weight and speed/aerobatic limits and requires attaching the directive to the flight manual, while mandating a structural wing-spar strengthening modification by a set deadline.

This prevents possible in‑flight structural failure at higher loads or during aerobatics; completing the approved spar modification restores full operating capability and allows removal of the temporary restrictions.

1.2 refers.

Note 2. Sonerai Service bulletin No. 002 refers.

A copy of Paragraph 1 of the “Requirement” of this A.D. is to be attached to the flight manual until such times as the flight manual amendment is issued.

2 a. Modify wings in accordance with Revision (A) Spar Modification 11-1-83 plan sheets 13, 14, 15 and 16.
