Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

What this is: An Airworthiness Directive (AD) — a mandatory safety order issued by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority that requires owners to make specific modifications to their aircraft.

Who it affects: Owners and operators of SIAI Marchetti F260 and F260B aeroplanes with specific serial numbers (101–125, 2-26 to 2-49, and 502 — but excluding serial numbers 2-29, 2-33, 2-35, 2-36, 2-37, 2-42, 2-43, 2-47, and 2-48).

What you must do: Modify the carburettor air intake box and engine cowling drain holes according to the manufacturer's Service Bulletin No. 260B9. This likely involves drilling or altering drainage holes to prevent fuel or water accumulation that could affect engine performance.

Deadline: Complete the work within 100 hours of flight time after 28 April 1972.

Why it matters: This prevents potential engine failure or fire hazards caused by improper ventilation or drainage in the engine compartment.
