Plain English Summary

3/10 complexity

This Airworthiness Directive requires owners/operators of SIAI Marchetti S205 and S208 series aircraft to inspect and, if necessary, modify the main landing‑gear actuator attaching fork per Aermacchi Alert Service Bulletin 205B‑62, within 10 hours time‑in‑service after 7 February 2001. It targets fatigue cracking that could disable both normal and emergency gear‑down. Amendment 1 adds further inspection steps and mandates a new steel clevis rod end; operators are responsible for carrying out the work and sourcing replacement parts where required.

Landing Gear Actuator Attaching Fork 3/2001 DM

Applicability: All Model S205-18/R, S205-20/R, S205-22/R, S208 and S208A aircraft.

Requirement: Carry out the inspection/modification called for by Aermacchi Alert Service Bulletin 205B-62.

Compliance: Within 10 hours time in service after the 7 February 2001, unless already accomplished.

This amendment becomes effective on 7 February 2001.

Background: The RAI required an inspection of the main landing gear actuator attaching fork for fatigue cracking, failure of which would render inoperative both the normal and the emergency gear down functions.
