Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

What this does: This is a mandatory aviation safety rule (called an Airworthiness Directive) that requires recurring inspections of landing gear cross members on Italian-made SIAI Marchetti S205 and S208 series aircraft.

Who it affects: Owners and operators of these specific aircraft models that have not been fitted with reinforced or newly designed landing gear cross members.

What must be done: Operators must inspect the landing gear cross members within 100 hours of flight time after the compliance date, and then repeat this inspection at least every 100 hours of flight time. The inspection must follow the technical procedures outlined in the manufacturer's Service Bulletin No. 205B36.

Why it matters: This prevents structural failure of the landing gear during takeoff or landing. The recurring inspection requirement ensures fatigue cracks or structural weaknesses are detected before they cause a gear collapse.
