Plain English Summary

3/10 complexity

Requires operators of SAAB SF340A and 340B aeroplanes (serial numbers 004–459) to carry out the inspection/repair actions set out in SAAB Service Bulletin 340-51-025 to correct aileron and elevator trim-tab fitting installations. CASA’s delegate made compliance mandatory within 800 flight hours or six months of 25 December 2003. Operators bear the inspection and repair costs; CASA enforces the requirement. The AD responds to reports that incorrectly installed rivets can allow trim-tab bearings to loosen and cause severe control oscillations.
