Plain English Summary

3/10 complexity

This Airworthiness Directive orders operators of Saab SF340A (s/n 004–159) and SF340B (s/n 160–459) aircraft that have been repainted to inspect for removed protective coatings (anodising and primer) and for pitting corrosion, following Saab Service Bulletin 340‑51‑020 (original or Rev 1). It was issued by a CASA delegate under CAR 1998. Compliance is required within 2,000 flight hours or 12 months from 12 July 2001. Operators pay for inspections and any repairs; the AD cites the Structural Repair Manual prohibition on sanding to bare metal.
