Plain English Summary

3/10 complexity

This Airworthiness Directive requires operators of Saab SF340A (serial numbers 004–159) and 340B (160–339) aircraft to carry out the actions set out in Saab Mandatory Service Bulletin 340‑29‑009 Revision 2 (dated 2 July 1999) on the main landing gear hydraulic swivel brackets. Compliance must be completed before 2 July 2000; the AD became effective 7 October 1999.

The AD responds to repeated hydraulic swivel failures caused by misalignment of downlock/brake swivels; the cost, parts and maintenance time required to comply fall on the aircraft operators, who must follow the service bulletin and meet the compliance date.
