Plain English Summary

3/10 complexity

This directive requires all Shorts SD3-30 aircraft to have the elevator torque shaft bearing housings inspected per Shorts Mandatory Service Bulletin SD330-27-39 because incorrect installation was found to cause “free play”. The initial inspection must be done by 4 December 2001 and then repeated under the aircraft maintenance programme (Section 5‑25‑27).

Aircraft operators or their maintenance providers must perform the inspections and any corrective work, incurring associated costs and scheduling requirements. The AD points to the service bulletin for technical instructions (Requirement; Compliance; Background).
