Plain English Summary

3/10 complexity

This instrument requires all Short SD3-30 aeroplanes to have the left and right low‑pressure fuel shut‑off levers locked in the OPEN position using securing wire installed per Shorts Service Bulletin SD330‑28‑35 (compliance by 31 Dec 1993). It affects SD330 owners/operators and their maintenance organisations, prevents inadvertent lever OFF selections when closing crossfeed valves, and imposes installation cost and operational handling changes—wire is breakable in an emergency.

AD/SD3-30/28 LP Levers 11/93

Applicability: All SD330 aircraft.

Requirement: Action in accordance with Shorts Service Bulletin SD330-28-35.

Note: FAA Airworthiness Directive 92-27-17 refers.

Compliance: Prior to 31 December 1993.

Background: This Directive has been issued to require the left and right low pressure (LP) fuel shut-off levers to be locked in the open position. The LP levers are to be locked by using securing wire which can be broken in an emergency.
