Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

What this does: This document cancels a previous aviation safety rule (Airworthiness Directive AD/S-PUMA/82 Amdt 1) that required inspections or fixes for hydraulic hoist cables on Eurocopter AS 332 Super Puma helicopters.

Who it affects: Owners and operators of Eurocopter AS 332 Super Puma helicopters.

Why it matters: The cancellation took effect on 18 January 2010. The old Australian rule became redundant because Europe's aviation safety agency (EASA) issued a new directive (EASA AD 2009-0271) on 21 December 2009 that covered the same issue. Under Australian aviation law (CASR Part 39), European directives issued after 1 October 2009 automatically become Australian law, so the old Australian-specific rule was no longer needed.
