Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

What this does: This document cancels a previous aviation safety rule (Airworthiness Directive AD/S-62/7) that required owners of Sikorsky S-62 helicopters to perform a specific one-time action on the aircraft's free wheel unit — the component that lets the main rotor spin freely when the engine is disengaged.

Who it affects:

Owners and operators of Sikorsky S-62 series helicopters
Maintenance organisations that service these aircraft

What changes:

The previous safety requirement is completely removed
The cancellation takes effect on 14 April 2005
Operators no longer need to perform the one-time action previously mandated

Why it matters: The Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) has determined that the original safety directive is no longer necessary. This removes a compliance burden for operators of these older helicopters.
