What this does
This document cancels a previous safety rule (an Airworthiness Directive) that required owners of Sikorsky S-62 helicopters to perform a one-time inspection of the main rotor shaft.
Who it affects
Owners and operators of Sikorsky S-62 series helicopters.
What has changed
Previously, you had to complete a specific one-time inspection of the main rotor shaft as mandated by this Australian directive (which supported a US Federal Aviation Administration rule). Now, that specific inspection requirement is cancelled effective 14 April 2005.
Instead of doing a separate inspection, compliance with the US safety standards will now be checked during your regular Certificate of Airworthiness inspection (the routine safety check all aircraft must undergo to remain registered).
Why it matters
This removes a standalone inspection obligation and folds the safety check into your existing regular maintenance schedule, reducing administrative burden while maintaining safety standards.
