CASA requires a mandated mechanical modification to the connecting rod of Rolls Royce (Blackburn) Cirrus Minor engines (models 1, 11 and 11A) before any such engine may be installed. It affects owners, operators and maintainers and aims to prevent in‑flight engine failure from stressed or outdated connecting rods by ensuring an approved modification is applied.
