AD/ROTAX/12 - Oil System Venting - CANCELLED

What this is: This document cancels a previous safety rule (Airworthiness Directive AD/ROTAX/12) that required owners of Rotax piston aircraft engines to perform specific maintenance actions on their oil system venting.

Who it affects: Aircraft owners and operators with Rotax piston engines who were previously required to follow the original AD/ROTAX/12.

What it does:

• Removes the requirement: You no longer need to perform the oil system venting inspections or modifications that were previously mandatory.
• Why it changed: The engine manufacturer conducted further investigation and discovered the oil venting system wasn't actually the root cause of the engine problems. The original safety fix was targeting the wrong issue.
• What to do instead: A different safety directive (AD/ROTAX/19) now contains the correct requirements to address the actual problem.
