Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This is an Airworthiness Directive (a legally binding safety order) issued by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA).

What it requires: Owners and operators of specific Gulfstream (Rockwell) Model 114 aeroplanes (serial numbers 14000 through 14314) must install a retainer and lockwasher on the landing gear retract cylinder. The work must follow the technical instructions in Rockwell International Service Letter SL-114-11.

Deadline: The installation had to be completed within 100 hours of flight time after 30 June 1978.

Why it matters: This safety fix prevents the landing gear from failing to extend or retract properly — a defect that could cause the landing gear to collapse during landing.

Who is affected: Anyone owning, operating, or maintaining the specific aircraft models listed above.
