What it does
This Airworthiness Directive (AD/ROBIN/27 Amdt 2), issued by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority and signed by David Villiers as delegate, sets mandatory inspection and replacement requirements for rudder pedal bars on certain Robin/HR/R model light aircraft, and prescribes the compliant part numbers and service bulletin for the replacement. The instrument:
- Identifies the affected aircraft models and serial number range (serial numbers 1 through 378 for the listed types) and excludes aircraft already fitted with the reinforced rudder bars P/N 27.40.31.010 (left) and P/N 27.40.31.020 (right) (see "Applicability" in the source).
- Requires replacement of the left and right rudder bars P/N 27.23.05.010 and P/N 27.23.05.020 with reinforced rudder bars P/N 27.40.31.010 and P/N 27.40.31.020 respectively for Model R 2000 series aircraft, performed in accordance with Alpha Aviation Service Bulletin AA-SB27-003 (Requirement 1 in the source).
- Requires geometrical inspections for Model HR 200 and R 2120 U aircraft in neutral position measuring distances G1, G2, and D1, D2 (the distance between the foot tubes and the front face of the frame box under the seats) and sets action thresholds for distortion: no significant distortion (D1=D2 and G1=G2 within +/- 5 mm) leads to re-inspection at up to 500 hours; distortion between 5 mm and 10 mm leads to re-inspection at up to 100 hours until replacement; distortion equal to or greater than 10 mm requires replacement per AA-SB27-003 (Requirement 1 parts a-c and Figure 1 referenced).
- Prescribes compliance timing: an initial compliance window (within 50 hours time in service after 17 January 2008 or before 17 April 2008, whichever occurs first, unless already accomplished) and an interim inspection cadence (within 100 hours after 17 January 2008 and thereafter at the intervals specified in Requirement 2) until the reinforced rudder bars are fitted (Compliance).
