This AD mandates a one‑time inspection of the carburettor-to-air‑heater-box spacer on specific Pierre Robin DR400 and R2160 serial‑numbered aircraft, using Pierre Robin Service Bulletin No. 139, to be done within 10 hours TIS of the 22 June 1995 effective date.

It was issued after adhesive tape was found in a spacer bore that could cause carburettor blockage and engine power loss; owners/operators bear inspection and repair costs.

AD/ROBIN/22 Carburettor Spacer 7/95

Applicability: Robin DR 400 and R 2160 aircraft as detailed by serial number in Pierre Robin Airplanes Service Bulletin No. 139.

Requirement: Action in accordance with Pierre Robin Airplanes Service Bulletin No. 139.

Note: DGAC Airworthiness Directive 94-275(A) refers.

Compliance: Effective 22 June 1995; within 10 hours time in service.

Background: This Directive has been issued to require an inspection of the carburettor to air heater box spacer for evidence of adhesive tape. The requirement follows a report of pieces of adhesive tape being found in the bore of a carburettor spacer. Should adhesive tape in the carburettor spacer bore become dislodged in flight, the tape may interfere with the carburettor operation with a subsequent loss of engine power.
