AD/RAD/8 - Channel Tuning Mechanism AWA VHF Nav/Com Receiver AD704 - Modification

What this does: This directive mandates a safety modification to a specific type of aircraft radio equipment — the AWA AD704 VHF Navigation/Communication Receiver.

Who it affects: Aircraft owners, operators, and maintenance engineers using this particular radio model (manufacturer reference C80071).

What must happen: Before this radio can be installed in any aircraft, it must undergo a specific modification to its channel tuning mechanism (following AWA Modification Procedure No. 10). This only applies if the radio has been overhauled after 19 August 1963.

Why it matters: This ensures old radio equipment meets safety standards and prevents potentially faulty channel tuning mechanisms from being used in flight.
