Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

Owners/operators of Robinson R44 helicopters serials 0006–0122 (unless fitted with cooling fanwheel D174-1 Rev G or later) must begin regular inspections of the engine cooling fanwheel for cracks — initially within 10 flight hours after Nov 25, 1994, then every 25 flight hours — until the redesigned fanwheel is installed.

This AD addresses discovered front-face cracking that could cause in-flight fanwheel failure, engine loss, or airframe damage, so recurring checks remain required until the safer replacement part is fitted.
