AD/R22/5 Amdt 2 - Main Gearbox Flexible Coupling Yokes - Inspection - CANCELLED

This document cancels an earlier aviation safety rule (an Airworthiness Directive) that required regular safety inspections on specific helicopter parts.

What the old rule required: Owners of Robinson R22 helicopters had to perform dye-penetrant inspections (a specialised crack-detection test) every 10 flight hours on flexible coupling yokes (mechanical parts in the main gearbox) with part numbers A192 and A194. This testing had to continue until those parts were replaced with updated versions (P/N A907 and A908).

What this document does: It officially cancels that inspection requirement effective 7 May 2009. The rule is no longer needed because the safety issue has been resolved—presumably the old parts have been phased out of service.

Who it affects: Helicopter owners and maintenance engineers who were previously required to comply with the 10-hour inspection interval for these specific parts.
