This AD mandates a one-time inspection of the tail-rotor transmission (including an added drive-shaft damper check) on Robinson R22 helicopters serials 0002–0099, to be completed within 10 flight hours after 4 March 1981 using Robinson service documents. It was issued to prevent failure of the A193-2 forward coupling flex plate and consequent loss of tail-rotor power. Owners/operators must arrange and pay for the inspection and any repairs; the amendment expands the serial range and adds the damper check.
