AD/R22/19 - Vee Belt Guide - Installation - CANCELLED

This instrument cancels an old helicopter safety rule that has been on the books since the 1980s.

What it did: The original rule (Airworthiness Directive AD/R22/19) forced owners of Robinson R22 helicopters to install a vee-belt guide — a small component that keeps the engine drive belt from slipping off — whenever they replaced their belts, or by June 1984 at the latest.

What happens now:

• The requirement is completely scrapped (as of 7 May 2009)
• Owners and mechanics no longer need to track or comply with this specific installation rule
• This tidies up old paperwork that is no longer considered necessary for safety

Who is affected: Anyone who owns, operates, or maintains Robinson R22 series helicopters in Australia. If you still have this item on your maintenance checklist, you can cross it off.
