Plain English Summary

3/10 complexity

This Airworthiness Directive requires replacement of low-pressure turbine 4th-stage airseals (P/No 50N478 or 50N478-001) on Pratt & Whitney PW4000 engines because cracked seals can cause an uncontained engine failure (Background). It applies only to engines with those part numbers (Applicability) and mandates the replacement work as specified by FAA AD 2001-05-07 (Requirement).

Operators must comply within the timeframes set in FAA AD 2001-05-07 and bear parts, labour and aircraft downtime costs; CASA issued this amendment revoking the prior AD (Compliance).
