Plain English Summary

3/10 complexity

This Airworthiness Directive requires operators of specified Pratt & Whitney PW4000 engines to carry out the initial and recurring inspections of the high‑pressure compressor (HPC) front drum rotor exactly as set out in FAA AD 2002‑12‑15, with a revised effective date of 3 October 2002. CASA (by delegate) enforces the requirement; operators pay for and must schedule the inspections and any repairs. The inspections are intended to detect rotor cracking that could lead to uncontained failures (Background; Requirement; Compliance).
