Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

What this does: This is a safety directive that requires aircraft owners and operators to take specific actions to prevent or address fires in the intercompressor case (the area between compressor sections) of certain Pratt & Whitney Canada engines.

Who it affects: Anyone operating aircraft with these specific engine models:

PW118A
PW123 and PW123AF
PW124B and PW1246A
PW125B
PW126

What you must do: Follow the technical instructions in a Canadian aviation safety document called Transport Canada Airworthiness Directive CF-91-26R1. This includes inspections and permanent fixes (termination actions) to ensure the engine is safe.

Why it matters: Engine fires in flight are obviously catastrophic. This directive ensures these specific engines are inspected and modified to eliminate a known fire risk in the engine's compression system.
