AD/PT6A/8 - Compressor Rear Hub Hardness - CANCELLED

What this does: This document cancels a previous aviation safety rule (called an Airworthiness Directive) that applied to Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A series turbine engines — commonly used in regional aircraft and turboprops.

What the old rule required: Before installing these engines in an aircraft, operators had to perform specific hardness checks on the compressor rear hub if the engine had been re-conditioned after November 1969. This had to be done following instructions in United Aircraft of Canada Limited (UACL) Service Bulletin No. 62 or No. 1035.

What changed: As of 2 July 2009, this safety requirement is completely cancelled and no longer applies. The Civil Aviation Safety Authority determined the rule was no longer necessary.

Who this affects: Aircraft operators, maintenance organisations, and owners of aircraft powered by PT6A series engines.
