Plain English Summary

3/10 complexity

This mandatory Airworthiness Directive requires owners and maintenance organisations to fit an improved wire rope reversing cable to specified Pratt & Whitney PT6A-27 and PT6A-28 turbine engines before reinstalling them after overhaul (if the overhaul was completed after 31 Dec 1971). It applies to PT6A-27 engines built before SN PC‑E40273 (with 11 specific engines excluded) and PT6A-28 engines built before SN PC‑E50027, per P&W Service Bulletins 173 Rev 2, 1126, or AD/UAC‑T/10A. The change prevents reverse‑thrust cable failures.
