Plain English Summary

3/10 complexity

This directive makes FAA Airworthiness Directive 92-16-06 mandatory in Australia for Garrett AiResearch starters installed on specified transport aircraft, requiring the inspections, removals, repairs or replacements the FAA AD prescribes.

It affects aircraft operators, owners and maintenance organisations with the affected starters because unauthorised overhauls can cause uncontained turbine failures (fire/loss of control); operators must comply immediately, bear inspection and repair costs, and consult the distributed FAA AD for affected part/serial numbers, with CASA enforcing the requirement.
