Plain English Summary

3/10 complexity

This mandatory CASA safety order requires owners/operators of aircraft with specified McCauley variable‑pitch propeller hubs to either shot‑peen the blade‑retention threads per Service Bulletin No. 88 or replace the hub with the improved “‑M” (or later) design. Compliance depends on hours: address within 100 flight hours if already >600 hours, or before reaching 700 total hours if under 600. It prevents thread failure and possible blade separation, which could cause catastrophic aircraft loss.
