Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

This mandatory Airworthiness Directive requires owners/operators of Pitts S‑1 and S‑2 aeroplanes with metal aileron spars to inspect and modify the aileron spar attachment at the hinge brackets per the manufacturer’s Service Letter No. 4. Work must be done within 100 flight hours after 28 February 1977 (unless already accomplished). The action prevents possible structural failure of the aileron attachment and protects control-surface integrity.
