What it does
This document is an airworthiness directive listed in the Civil Aviation Regulations 1998 schedule of Airworthiness Directives, headed “AD/PC-6/34 Additional Modifications for Compliance with Requirements for Issue of Certificate of Airworthiness” and is captioned against Pilatus Porter PC-6 series aeroplanes. The directive is explicit and narrow in scope: it applies to a single model, “Model PC6-H2” (the instrument’s “Applicability” line). It prescribes four discrete modifications and actions, each framed as a requirement, and sets a single compliance deadline: “Before 31 August 1972.”
Mechanically, the direction requires the following actions:
- Fit a safety harness to each front seat restraint installation, and do so in accordance with “a scheme approved by the Secretary” (Requirement 1).
- Install a placard that indicates the location of the Flight Manual (Requirement 2).
- Calibrate the fuel quantity gauges and install a placard adjacent to them (Requirement 3).
- Modify the external power connection circuitry to either prevent inadvertent reverse-polarity connection or disconnect the external power system from the aircraft electrical system (Requirement 4).
Those four items are the only operative commands contained in the provided schedule text. The schedule does not itself set out any technical specification for the harness, placards, calibration tolerance, wiring changes, or the form of documentation that must accompany compliance; it instead references an approval process for the harness scheme and otherwise prescribes the physical acts (install placard, calibrate gauge, modify circuitry). The instrument’s title states its policy objective as “Additional Modifications for Compliance with Requirements for Issue of Certificate of Airworthiness,” which is an explicit purpose claim in the text. The schedule contains no express penalty provision, no appeal mechanism, and no detailed enforcement or record-keeping directions.
