Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

What it does: Mechanically, this Airworthiness Directive requires STRATOS JU-40 rescue parachutes produced after 1 April 1997 to be retired from operational use; it takes effect 22 May 2002 and was issued by a CASA delegate under CAR 1998.

Who it affects and why it matters: aircraft operators, parachute owners and maintenance organisations must remove and replace affected units at their cost because the Czech CAA found the manufacturer lacked a valid Production Approval for that period.
