Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

This mandatory Airworthiness Directive for specified Piper PA-46-310P serial numbers requires owners/operators to inspect the nose landing-gear steering rotator for cracks or damage, following Manufacturer Service Bulletin No. 809. The first inspection is due within 25 flight hours after 31 July 1985; cracked parts must be repaired before flight, and if no cracks are found a repeat inspection is required within 100 flight hours. It replaces a prior AD because steering-horn failures remained a safety risk during taxi.
