Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This Airworthiness Directive (AD) is a mandatory safety order for specific Piper PA-46 Malibu aircraft.

Who it affects Owners and operators of Piper PA-46-310P model aircraft with serial numbers 46-8408001 through 46-8408035 and 46/8408038 through 46-8408040.

What you must do Reroute the electrical wiring for the oxygen system according to Piper Service Bulletin No 791. This prevents the wires from rubbing against (chafing) the right-hand centre seat base bracket or the aileron cables located beneath the oxygen bottle drawer.

Why it matters Chafing can damage the wiring and cause the oxygen system warning light to come on accidentally (false positives). This could distract pilots or mask a genuine oxygen system emergency.

Compliance deadline The repair must be completed within 100 hours of flight time after 31 December 1984.
