AD/PA-46/11 - De-Ice Pressure Control Valve - CANCELLED

What this does: This document cancels a long-standing aviation safety rule that required regular inspections of the de-icing pressure control valve on Piper PA-46 (Malibu) aircraft. The cancellation takes effect on 9 April 2009.

Why it matters: Since 1986, these aircraft owners had to inspect a specific valve (which helps prevent ice buildup on the wings) every 25 and 50 hours of flight time. This was meant to be a temporary safety measure until certain replacement parts could be installed. After 23 years, the Civil Aviation Safety Authority determined the inspections are no longer required, removing a recurring maintenance obligation.

In simple terms: If you own or operate a Piper Malibu, you can stop performing these specific valve inspections every 25-50 flight hours.
