Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

What this is An Airworthiness Directive (a mandatory safety order) requiring inspection of the aft rudder cable on specific Piper PA-46 aircraft.

Who is affected Owners and operators of Piper PA-46-310P model aircraft with serial numbers between 46-8408001 and 46-8408048.

What you must do Inspect the aft rudder cable to ensure it is correctly routed and not incorrectly positioned over the cable guard, following the procedures in Piper Service Bulletin No. 781.

Why this matters A rudder cable failed because it was mis-routed over a cable guard. A failed rudder cable means loss of directional control, which is a serious flight safety risk.

When to comply Complete the inspection within 25 hours of flight time after 6 September 1984, or at the next scheduled maintenance check required for your Maintenance Release (airworthiness certificate), whichever comes first.
